I learn something new every day. Today I learned that there was a cod fish on the 1938 Massachusetts license plate, but people were up in arms over the direction it was facing. So they switched it for the 1939 license plate, but people were still not happy. Go figure. Listen here:

Yesterday I sat down with Roger Leslie and learned the process of harvesting ice back in the day, before refrigeration. His dad owned an ice and fuel company on Webster street, just a short distance from Hackett’s pond in Hanover. Listen to his story here:

Growing up in Hingham, I never heard anything about blimps flying through Hingham after WW2. Through recent interviews, I’ve enjoyed learning more about the Weymouth Naval Air Station (now Union Point) and their dirigible balloon program.
